Jonathan Hemus is managing director of crisis management consultancy Insignia and was previously global head of crisis and issues management at international consultancy Porter Novelli.
He works with leaders of businesses to ensure they have the capability and confidence to do and say the right things under the intense pressure of a crisis. During his twenty five year career he has advised clients including Anglo American, Cathay Pacific, Disney, DP World, the International Cricket Council, Lidl, Procter & Gamble and Sky.
Driven by a passion to prevent the needless harm caused by a mis-handled crisis, he enables his clients to successfully prepare for and sometimes handle their worst nightmares, whether cyber attack, catastrophic accidents, management misdeeds, product contamination or environmental incidents
Jonathan is a regular media commentator on breaking crises for media including the BBC, CNN, Management Today, the Sunday Times and the Wall Street Journal, and is a visiting lecturer for Aston University Business School’s MSc in Crisis and Disaster Management. He is also chair of the Advisory Board for Aston’s Crisis Centre.
He is the author of Amazon number one best selling book, ‘Crisis Proof – How to Prepare For The Worst Day Of Your Business Life’ which was named as Specialist Business Book of the Year in the 2021 Business Book Awards
Outside of work, he enjoys a summer’s day at the cricket, following his beloved Aston Villa and, as an antidote to stress caused by the latter, a brisk walk through Sutton Park (or alternatively a glass of Australian Shiraz).
