Andy Hall
Consultant
Andy has specialised in crisis management in complex and challenging environments across the world for 14 years. He has managed teams of up to 300 people during high-risk crises, delivering training and providing leadership to teams in insecure and hostile environments.
At Insignia, Andy leads the development of robust crisis management plans and delivery of crisis management and crisis communication exercises, training and workshops. He draws on his wealth of experience in crisis environments to create realistic and challenging exercises that enhance senior leadership teams’ crisis preparedness.
His clients include ABB, Babcock, Pernod Ricard and West Midlands Pension Fund. In addition to scenario planning workshops, crisis planning and exercising, Andy’s frontline experience means he provides wise counsel to clients experiencing a live crisis or at any stage of their resilience journey.
Prior to Insignia, Andy worked with government agencies, public sector organisations and NGOs, including the World Health Organisation, acute NHS Hospital Trusts, Save the Children International and the UK Health Security Agency. He has worked in Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Iraq, Ukraine, Kurdistan, Nepal, the U.S. and Switzerland.
Andy served six years in the British Army as a Combat Medic attached to various frontline units, including 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) in Afghanistan.
In 2014, as a Health Crisis Consultant for Partners In Health, Andy established the world’s first dedicated unit to manage pregnant and labouring women with suspected or confirmed Ebola in Sierra Leone. Establishing a team of Sierra Leonian and international medical professionals, he designed, built, resourced and operationalised the unit in less than three weeks. The team and facility went on to save the lives of over 100 women.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys running, open water swimming and cooking. Previously, he was a mountaineering instructor and physical training instructor.
“I’m passionate about crisis management because I’m passionate about helping people. A poorly managed crisis will often have a negative impact on people. By giving organisations effective training, plans and processes to manage a crisis, I help them protect people from harm.
“As someone who strongly values integrity, one of the reasons that I love working at Insignia is our ethos of honesty with clients, especially constructive feedback, to deliver the best possible outcomes for them.”
