Mark Wenham

Mark had a successful career as an Army officer latterly specialising in communications and media operations. He has had considerable operational and crisis experience during this time in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Balkans, Cyprus and Northern Ireland.

His last appointment in the military was as the Head of the UK Defence Media Operations Centre where he developed and delivered crisis communications and media training and exercises across the Armed Forces. He was seconded to the National Security Council Communications Team in the Cabinet Office and has also held senior communication roles within NATO, including Chief of Military Public Affairs and spokesman at a NATO assigned HQ and as Deputy Chief of Military Public Affairs for Joint Command Headquarters in Afghanistan. More recently he was involved with a media capacity building project in North Africa, provided communications assistance to a security ministry in the Caribbean and worked on an influence project with a UK police force.

At Insignia Mark brings his frontline experience to develop and deliver crisis management planning, training and exercises and to provide senior counsel to Insignia’s clients as they manage challenging situations.

He has an MBA from Cranfield University, has been published in the British Army Review and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Operations and has completed the CIPR Crisis Communications Diploma. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Member (AP) of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

When away from the office Mark enjoys rugby – sadly only watching now, sailing and reluctantly but regularly going to the gym.
