Joanne Gill
Consultant

For over two decades, Joanne has guided organisations through complex crises with high reputational risks. She has led clients’ crisis response to patient recalls, health and safety issues, data loss, financial and regulatory investigations and criminal infiltration.

Joanne provides crisis management planning, training and consultancy as a communication professional, working in-house, with clients and Government departments to identify and evaluate risks and manage issues.

She specialises in crisis communication planning, training and exercising, and has worked with clients including Royal London and NFU Mutual.

Joanne brings her creativity into her client work, crafting realistic and challenging storylines, scenarios and scripts for use in our training and exercises.

She recently worked with the largest mutual insurer in the UK to develop and deliver a crisis management exercise based on a liquidity scenario - a key risk on the regulators’ radar and of strategic importance to our client. Our senior client contact said: “Thorough preparation and organisation meant that Insignia’s facilitation team had things under control on the day even with the unpredictability of our team’s crisis response.”

She began her career as a journalist for Financial Times Business and brings a journalist’s perspective and an acute understanding of the media to her crisis communication training. She also held senior roles in PR, strategic communication and stakeholder strategy for HBOS, the Department of Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care. Prior to joining Insignia, Joanne ran a PR agency, specialising in financial services and healthcare clients.

Adventurous and daring, Joanne loves scuba diving, fast cars and travelling. She has worked as a Divemaster in Thailand and Vietnam and was karting champion for two years running in her youth.

"The best thing about working at Insignia is our clients. The people we work with understand the value of preparing and exercising senior leadership teams for crisis. It’s rewarding to provide the capability which enables them to achieve their objectives."
